A bride and groom stand outdoors under transparent umbrellas at their Overbrook House wedding, smiling at each other amid greenery and twinkling fairy lights. The bride holds a bouquet of flowers.

Overbrook House Wedding | D&M | Buzzards Bay, MA

When the clouds rolled in over Buzzards Bay on the morning of D & M’s wedding at Overbrook House, I knew we were in for a soggy one. How did I know? The weather app, silly. But having photographed weddings here before, I also knew there’s no shortage of leafy cover, and with an umbrella in hand, a little rain is just an excuse for adventure.

D wore an incredible custom chainmail shoulder piece over her dress made by the talented Falconiere out of NYC. Her entire look was an absolute statement.

Once everyone was ready, beverages had been sipped, and a very serious round of Mario Kart had been played, we wandered the winding paths between the trees for some moody, umbrella-clad snaps.

With the weather making the call for us, the ceremony moved inside to the main hall, the one I affectionately call the “mess hall,” where the wooden rafters gave everything a nice warm feeling. That same space later transformed into the dance floor, home to what I can only describe as an especially enthusiastic parent dance.

The night closed out with photos in front of a DIY crescent moon backdrop that had a bit of a malfunction (D & M’s reaction says it all), a perfect, laughing ending to a rainy day where everyone leaned in, rolled with it, and had a blast.
